I write because...

How to complete this sentence? How to tell you who I am and why you should read my work? I’ll start out simply enough, with an introduction.

Hello, and welcome to my site. My name is Teresa Rothman, but you can call me Metz.

I find it difficult to place myself into any one genre, but I do seem to be hovering somewhere between memoir styled fiction and fantasy. So for now let’s just say that I write fiction with tinges of truth drawn nearly whole from my own life.

Back to my unfinished sentence hanging out up there;
I write because, the stories inside my head have to get out somehow.
Simple but true.

My brain works in story mode all the time. I tell myself stories to fall asleep by. I tell myself stories to pass the time when I don’t have a book or something else to occupy myself. When I’m driving in the car and can’t stand another second of the radio and I’m bored to death with my CD’s. When I’m working, walking, playing with my children. I’m always inside a story. Always. And these stories tend to flow over so much that I simply have to write them down.

Right now I’m telling myself the story of how to write this introduction, how to hook you in and get you to peruse my site. How to get you interested enough to click around and read my stories and poems, check out the photos of me and my friends in our twenties, to drop me a line and tell me what you think of my work.

How am I doing so far?

When I read I often find myself completely immersed in the world created by the writer.

I hope to do that to you, that when you’ve reached The End you’re saying,
“I’m back already? I want more!”

As I add to my collection, you’ll see a common theme throughout most of my stories. Revolving around my early twenties and the adventures I shared with my two dearest friends, Matthew and Dennis.

You’ll learn a lot about the three of us, and what we mean to each other. I can truly say that I would not be here today if it weren’t for those two, so let me say in the most public way possible…Thank you Matt…Thank you Dennis.

And an extra special thank you to Matthew S. Trimnell at Red Line Studio for designing and maintaining this wonderful website for me! Thanks Matt!
